Will you show your support and wear denim?
Organizations and businesses are invited to show their support for survivors during Sexual Assault Awareness Month by wearing denim on Wednesday, April 25th. A $5 donation is suggested to wear JEANS to work/school on this day and proceeds benefit the Peace River Center Rape Recovery Program

Why Jeans?
The campaign was originally triggered due to a ruling by the Italian Supreme Court where a rape conviction was overturned because the justices felt since the victim was wearing tight jeans she must have helped her rapist remove her jeans, thereby implying consent. The following day, the women in the Italian Parliament came to work wearing jeans in solidarity with the victim. The Denim Day campaign developed in response to this case and the activism surrounding it.
