Keys to a New Chapter: Clients Secure Housing, Stability, and Hope
At Peace River Center, every small victory reflects a greater journey—one of healing, hope, and community transformation. This month, we’re excited to celebrate a major milestone for some of our clients: securing permanent housing at the newly opened Griffin Lofts in Lakeland.
Meeting Clients Where They Are
For individuals living with serious and persistent mental illness, stability and independence can feel out of reach. That’s where Peace River Center makes a difference. Many of our mental illness recovery programs provide comprehensive, evidence-based treatment to support every aspect of our clients’ recovery—from medication management and counseling to housing support and community reintegration. The goal is to empower individuals to live independently and with dignity, reducing the need for hospitalization.
More Than Just a Roof
Griffin Lofts represents more than just a place to live—it offers a chance to start fresh. For one client, this move marks the end of over 18 months living in a motel, a period marked by daily uncertainty and instability. Now, with a safe and stable home, this individual can begin to rebuild life with renewed confidence and support.
Partnership Makes Progress Possible
This life-changing opportunity was made possible through Peace River Center’s collaboration with Carrfour Supportive Housing, a Miami-based nonprofit specializing in affordable housing for low-income and formerly homeless individuals. Though new to Polk County, Carrfour has already made a significant impact, and their commitment to removing housing barriers aligns seamlessly with our mission.
Carrfour’s application and approval process is thorough and thoughtful, and our internal teams have been instrumental in guiding clients through every step—submitting documentation, meeting eligibility requirements, and preparing for move-in. This hands-on support is what Peace River Center does best: walking alongside clients, advocating for their needs, and removing obstacles to success.
A Community-First Design
Griffin Lofts itself is an award-winning property that has already begun transforming the Lakeland community. Conveniently located between Highway 98 and Lakeland Hills Boulevard, it offers easy access to essential services. The facility features ADA-compliant units, elevators, a gym, laundry facilities, and secure bike storage, all designed to support independence and quality of life.
A Shared Vision for Stability
What truly sets Griffin Lofts apart, however, is its people. The warmth, compassion, and professionalism of the on-site staff are already making a meaningful difference in residents’ lives. With plans to expand their support team, they’re committed to working hand-in-hand with Peace River Center to promote mental wellness and long-term stability.
Carrfour’s mission to reduce homelessness and support individuals living with mental illness mirrors our own. We are deeply grateful for their partnership and inspired by the opportunity to work together. With every key handed over, a new chapter begins—and we look forward to watching our clients write theirs with courage and pride.
