Motivated by witnessing the personal trials of domestic abuse occurring with former employees and wait staff, Press 101 founders Bill and Orly Whitaker and Dr. Ron Case have joined forces with Peace River Center to raise awareness within the community. Peace River Center was chosen by the restaurateurs because the organization operates two domestic violence shelters ,a Rape Recovery Resource Center and provides behavioral health services in Polk, Hardee and Highlands Counties.
The owners joined restaurant Manager, Chris Case in welcoming friends and family of employees at Peace River Center during soft openings held June 16-17. The new restaurant which opens to the public today, held several other soft openings and received donations for Peace River Center’s Domestic and Sexual Violence Programs from their guests. Owners Case and Whitaker were presented with an appreciation plaque by Peace River Center’s Community Relations representatives, Cathy Hatch, Lauren Lengyel and Stacey Wesche during festivities on June 21.
“We celebrate this new partnership and applaud Press 101’s commitment to community service by helping us with the work of serving abused women”, said Gil Sierra, Peace River Center CEO.
